Another Job Done!!

At long last finished the second pumps bag. Not as exciting as the previous ones I have done but it will do the job. Had to take the hanging loop off and re-stitch it as I had one side twisted.  All the triangles I have been stitching for the current quilt I am working on must have improved my patience as I almost left it as it was.

Sting in the Tale

I have not been stitching anything that I could blog for a while so have looked at last year's Yorkshire Travelling Journal entries to see what I could find.  I messed about with dyeing with nettle leaves in the middle of the year.  An experience I will not be repeating.  It was very smelly and the results were very poor.  I used the Silk Noil fabric I dyed to create this piece ....

I made a plastic stencil and used Markel Oil Sticks to colour the fabric.  The image was then stitched into and a scrap from a dictionary was added.

Square Eyed

I have actually been doing a little bit of stitching off and on over the past few weeks.  I have resurrected something I did with Venture Group using green fabric made into small  squares.  Not sure where it is going but it is loosely based on allotments and gardens.

The picture below was my original embroidery made from 10 small individual pieces of fabric donated by each member of the Venture Group from which we had to create something.  I cannot remember the exact rules but we were not allowed to add by way of additional materials much to what we already had.  We all started with the same materials and the outcomes were very, very different.

Scissor Poke

I have been messing about with this Scissor Poke for the past few weeks.  It was a kit I purchased a long time ago and which I really wanted to complete and use.  Well I have completed it at long last, but I cannot use it .....

.... as my embroidery scissors will not fit inside it!!  Perhaps it's an excuse to buy some more.

Almost finished ...

This is a tiny piece of Sue Hawkin's canvaswork I have been doing.  It will eventually be a scissor poke.  I have really struggled stitching it and have pulled it out umpteen times.  Not a good idea when you are stitching with rayon and silk threads.  The colour here does not really show it off to its best and I am sure there will be a few errors in it here and there.  I have enjoyed doing it and the variegated thread is a delight with the randomness throwing up all manner of colourways you would never put together yourself.

I have decided to give away my little vintage caravan hanging and was surprised to find bits of the stitching which were really pleasing. I am sure I have blogged it before, but here are parts of it again.
