Star Gazing

Stupidly I have started a new quilt this week.  It is going to be all turquoise and white and not too large. I have been persevering with getting the points lined up which has meant some unpicking and restitching along the way. Other household jobs need doing at the moment so have had to put it on hold for a while but may get some more done at the weekend when DH is going off on a jolly to watch the Mintex Rally somewhere in Yorkshire.

Much prefer the darker squares, but will not find out effective they are until I start to join all the squares together to form the whole quilt.

Lambs and Chicks

Wildlife at Springridge Nursery
Cycling featured heavily last week. Wednesday evening saw the second Fitness Ride from Hanley Swan and I surprised myself by achieving an average speed of 15.4 mph. Excellent for me. It must be working as I then did a 14.7 mph average on Saturday. Good Friday I managed an 18 mile Steady Ride from Crowle Community Shop and on Saturday we did a 25 mile Intermediate Ride from Springridge Nursery, also in Crowle.

A first outing for my new bib shorts on Saturday and surprise, surprise, we were all wearing some of our WOW kit!  The other three in the photograph are all qualified BREEZE ride leaders so I was well looked after. Had the essential coffee and cake at the end of the ride at the nursery cafĂ© - but looks like I should stop eating so many cakes and lose a few pounds I think.  My excuse is that I am much older than most of the others!!

Got held up by a farmer and a flock of sheep, plus young lambs, being moved from one field to another on Saturday morning and was sure I was going to miss the start of the cycle ride.  I ended up having to get out of the car to assist as the lambs had their own ideas about where they were meant to be going.

Pottering

Almost forgot about this print I produced a couple of weeks ago.  It uses two plates - a collagraph and a drypoint - which are printed one upon the other. I was quite pleased with the result but need to play with the colours a bit more.
